2026, THE YEAR AI GOT TO WORK

2026, THE YEAR AI GOT TO WORK

In 2025, we toured the AI demos and heard a lot

of hype. In 2026, we now see where AI is carving

a workflow path. Inside this issue: what’s working,

what’s going away, what mid-market leaders are

doing with AI.

2025 was when every executive sat through an AI

demo. 2026 is when those same executives are running

pilots that ship, agents that bill hours, and procurement

tools that have made Excel look quaint. The shift isn’t

in the technology — it’s in the consequences. AI is now

generating P&L line items, not slide decks. When I

walk into businesses and speak with leaders, they have

moved from uncertainty about AI to a solid plan of “this

is how we are going to use it”.

New for GAIN Magazine is AI Your Supply

ChainTM

AI Your Supply ChainTM is becoming its own dedicated

edition launching Fall 2026 — because supply chain

executives deserve their own publication, not a column.

Supply Chains are knee deep in changes, world economic

impact and logistics challenges. There are $Millions of

reasons to have a focused magazine dedicated to AI

solutions that work for Supply Chains.

THEMES OF 2026

• Moving from Agents for each workflow to

an agent that works on many things.

• Procurement has a crystal ball now — the

tariff volatility of 2024–26 forced the issue,

and the tools are finally good enough

• Small language models are quietly winning

the enterprise economics fight against

frontier APIs

• Agentic AI moved from demo to

deployment — but 88% of pilots still stall,

and the survivors share a pattern

• The CAIO went from rare to standard to

mandatory in three years, and boards are

paying attention

• AI literacy is now a hiring filter — the

talent pipeline is splitting in two

• Even your refrigerator has opinions about

dinner — the ambient AI pattern is coming

for B2B next

Since February 2026

“Gain the AI Advantage — Without the Hype.” GAIN is

the magazine for executives who measure AI in dollars

and hours, not press releases. Thank you to our many

subscribers, growing daily!
